99 V70XC ETS light on. No codes, engine running rough

Post by PatternFlyer »

Ok. PCV is completely done, all the vacuum hoses replaced. front left inner CV finally replaced.

No more smoke out of dip stick tube. complete PCV replaced not just the basic. Including the hose that goes from the oil trap to the back of the engine. Again nothing was blocked at all.

Now, that didn't solve the symptom.
Engine runs ok for a while. Then, it runs like miss fire (shake). RPM fluctuates.
while driving, I can feel the engine is revving up & down a little while the tachometer doesn't show.
It does it all throttle range. on idle (parked) it shows sometimes with tachometer moving up & down.

finally, ETS light came on, but no other code at all CEL is not on.

All plugs replaced with Bosch standard copper plus.

Only thing that I need to place that visibly found is intercooler inlet hose on top of the turbo.

I have a small video that I recorded, but not sure if I can upload directly to MVS.

What should I do at this time?

A small leak in the induction will make you think you need a new engine on a turbo car.

Don't do anything until you get that induction hose fixed rand take off and inspect and reinstall the rest of the induction hoses and clamps

The rough running symptom isn't consistent. it doesn't always do that.
Will that relate to the cracked inlet hose?

I will try clean and use aluminum tape over the cracked inlet hose and check other turbo related hoses this weekend. I will post back.

That hose has to withstand almost a full atmosphere of pressure.so taping it will be hard

I think I saw someone mentioning a use of steel/aluminum tube inside of the upper inlet hose.
Is there a part available for that?

Just buy the hose! They're old, soaked with oil and all ready to fail
