Hi
I am looking for a "240 1989 Steering Rack Mount Kit".
Can you help?
I have been told that a wheel alignment is not possible as there is too much lateral play on the front end.
I have fitted new tie rod ends, new ball joints and new linkages for the stabiliser bar. The steering feels tight and the car drives and points well in turning - no obvious problem from a driving stand point. New wheel bearings (inner and outer) and new brake rotors have been fitted recently.
There is no leakage at all obvious from the outside. The area is as dry as you would care to name.
See photo attached.
I have a second steering rack and a local steering specialist can refurbish it. I have also got new tie rods to fit and new boots.
thanks and regards

Those steering rack mounts are solid u-bolts. Did someone tell you it needed a mount kit like many other cars need? Were the inner tie rods checked for play?

Thanks for your reply lummert.
The bolts appear to be standard, or at least fitted before I got the car in 2008.
I am trying to source a mount kit at the moment with requests to a few Volvo parts/support sites. Swedishautoparts.com had one listed on their site but then cancelled my order yesterday when they could not find one in stock.
If you know of a kit I can buy please let me know. My car is RHD, 240, power steer CAM type.
The white tie on the boot is one I fitted when I replaced the ball joints and tie rod ends. At that time I could not get a grip on the tie rod to remove and replace with new. Will try again next week.
Thank for any further advice!
Mick

The part number might be: volvo 271387st956703 wrote:I am trying to source a mount kit
Ebay has this being shown, both are parts in US (and only the second listing ships to AU) but I have no idea what is the right part.
In Germany, they show this part kit, so that second ebay listing looks like they omitted those hangers.
