2004 V70 (P2) Blower Fan Speed Control

Gang -

Well, my blower fan is in the mail. While I wait for the delivery I have a purely academic question. Does anyone know the type of speed control used for the fan? There are 2 wires going to the voltage regulator / speed control portion of the fan assembly. Is this controlled by the CANbus or is it just some sort of potentiometer or something else?
