As far as I know, there is no "pan" to drop, open or remove? There is no replaceable filter

Though you do have to check and confirm the proper fluid is being used, I wonder if it is something as simple as the level was not topped up properly. It takes a good half hour of highway driving to get it all to operating temp. And transmission fluid is very sensitive to temperature (expansion).

Just a thought.

Just bought my first Volvo this week. It's a 2000 v70 with 110k miles...

Drove the car around for a few days and it was running great no trouble.

Brought it to his mechanic for the service and get a call the next day that now the transmission is slipping!

Again I'll recommend you return the car for a refund. "his" mechanic screwed up the car's tranny because he is incompetent. Proper fluid is a simple task. A can of worms has been opened, and you could be out a very large repair bill down the road if the tranny fails

He screwed it up.
No pan TO drop, no filter TO clean
I suggest you check the fluid level first when it's HOT ....never when cold.
If it's 1/2 quart off that could be an easy fix and it WILL slip if it's over or under filled!!

Ok so I brought it back to him and had him change the fluid to the correct transmission fluid but still no luck. It is still slipping. Any other suggestions on what to try? I unfortunately can not get my money back on the car. If I have to bring it to a transmission shop what should I have them check first?
Thanks!!

Hi everyone!
Finally got the issue resolved. Brought it down to my local transmission shop. It turns out the mechanic did remove the " locating pin" ( the transmission shop called it the band anchor). I guess he wasn't being honest when I asked him how he filled it.
The transmission shop was able to drill a small hole in the case and use a screw driver to re attach the band (at least from what I understood) filled the hole with some epoxy and now the problem is solved! Shifting is back to normal.
Thanks for all the suggestions and ideas!
