Are there any figures for how many manual's were made in the 90s? My wife's S70 (98, late model with mechanical tensioner) is a manual and when I purchased it for her, I didn't think it was rare at all. (I had only been looking for a couple of weeks). But now that it's time for me to get my own, I can't seem to find a manual one. And I've been looking for months. And the only manuals that are available are grossly overpriced... Sadly, I'm starting to think about getting myself a Saab because there seem to be a lot more manuals out there. Is there a place in the US where one is more likely to find a manual P80? Should I be doing that before getting a Saab?

Yea, Canada . I don't know what your state says about importing Canadian cars, but there are more manual Volvo P80 cars there.

I've had walk up offers of 3500 for my T5 M with 170k.

There have been several NA manual P80s here for 1000 ish with fixable problems though.

In the USA we didn't get any AWD 850s.

As far as manual P80s, I saw several in Chicago over the few months before I found mine (in Indianapolis), but I was looking strictly for wagons. Two manual wagons popped up in Michigan but I didn't want either, and I was talking with a seller in Wisconsin but he decided not to sell.

If you're willing to travel a bit, it'll help. The Northeast is a lot denser than the Midwest. Keep an eye out on Volvo forums, as the cars will be better cared-for and more worth traveling for.

I just bought an 05' V70 with 5-speed manual. :D
It's basically a base model (no turbo or awd), but loaded with neat options:

Leather
Sunroof
Alloys
Automatic Climate Control
2nd seat boosters
headlight washers
12v outlet in the cargo area
rear park assist

I've been searching for a long time, but all the base models I've seen were just that. Most of them had no options. So I think this is kind of rare.
98' S70, base, 5-speed manual, pewter/ tan, 145k miles
99' S70, base, 5-speed manual, nautic blue/ tan, 225k miles, currently inop
06' V70, auto, willow green/ charcoal, 147k miles
79' Ford Capri S, Euro Spec 2.8 V6, T9 5-speed manual, owned since 1986
58' Porsche Diesel Junior
13' Honda Odyssey
84' Mercedes 300 D, gold/ tan, 420k miles (retirement project :D )

Does anybody know, how many 98s came with the T5 engine? They are kinda rare, most are the LPT.

And further, is there a list with those that are labelled as SE: wood trim and alcantera seats?

I have a '98 T5 SE auto, the only manual's I could find here in Western Canada when I was looking were NA's. I sold my 99 5 Speed NA for the T5
If I paid attention to signs with little symbols I’d never find anywhere to park.
