I own a 2004 Volvo with 121miles on it and I have just replaced my battery and alternator and now I have Brake Assist service and Engine System Service has anyone else had this issue and could help me with this, didn't have these two until the alternator went out, Also been having and issue with my side brake lights, was told it was the brake module so I'm thinking that's were the brake assist service is coming from (not sure tho) Also have a Anit-Skid service message this has been there a few month.
Thanks in advance
Bobbie!

Which engine does your 90 have, 5 or 6 cylinder. Is it AWD?
When the alternator and battery were done, was it at a Volvo dealer or Volvo savvy independent? There is a protocol to follow when reconnecting the battery in these. Supposed to have key in pos II I believe.
Brake system message- this is actual brake system, so it's critical. Check Xemodex channel on youtube, I believe they have a video for BCM removal/installation. You may be able to pull it, clean the contacts, and plug it back in. If not, you will know how to replace it yourself!
ABS notice, do you have a sunroof? If so, the drains can clog, spilling water under the floor on the passenger side. Problem is, that's where the yaw sensor lives. If it corrodes, it takes out yaw portion of DSTC, as well as AWD and some anti-skid functionality. Other problem is that the relay costs $500 new!
I wish these showed up in the pick n' pull yards, but they aren't here in Florida.

Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)
