+1 to what Russ says on the anti-sway bar end links. They don't tend to fail at the same time.

Call from the shop, they said they hear the noise but cannot determine where it is coming from...said the sway bar bushings (not links) look fine as so the links (i'll tighten them myself). They have a theory it's the castle nut on top of the strut not being tightened enough but couldn't tell me without charging for strut disassembly.

If the latter is true, wouldn't you be able to see movement relative to the inner fender tower and the threaded shaft of the strut when you bounce that side of the car?

Yes, you would...clearly

Remove the hex nut, large washer and check for yourself. If it is indeed loose, tighten it!
