Short answer: Yes.
Follow-up question; did you only replace the oil trap, and not the lines? Did you clean out the PTC? Did you check to see if the ports to the block were clear?

you need to check the ports on the engine blocks are clear?
use a zip tie... or a screw to pull the blockage out... try not to push it in....
i would do oil change right after...
yeah check all hoses... including the PTC... which is probably gummed up....
you could vent to air the PTC hose and cap the PTC... and see if that helps....

We don't know whether OP's car is NA or turbo.sk55 wrote: yeah check all hoses... including the PTC... which is probably gummed up....

OK... Misha already pointed that out, so I think that's enough of that. The point is that OP needs to;polskamafia mjl wrote:We don't know whether OP's car is NA or turbo.
1) See that all hoses are connected properly
2) Check that the PTC (if the car's a turbo) is clear
3) Make sure that all the ports are clean
Those are the main points, no matter what the car.

Instead of speculating on whether it's a turbo or not, why not just tell him to check that the vacuum source to the pcv system is clear?
That's basically what the PTC does, right?

No... It's there to deal with the moist air coming from the engine right after start... It's the Positive Temperature Coefficient heater nipple...alschnertz wrote:Instead of speculating on whether it's a turbo or not, why not just tell him to check that the vacuum source to the pcv system is clear?
