Yes, Ive been reading on Swedespeed quite a bit about these cracked sleeves on the R motors? Is this from people adding power or is it something that happens over time? The two Ive looked at so far have miles in the 120k range. Anything under 100k and they are asking prices that are in the range of a newer s60 all together.

Hey guys. I'm still hunting for one of these. I have raised my budget a bit and a few more cars opened up in my area. I found one I liked but turns out the add was placed by someone's wife who didn't know the car. When I called the husband disclosed everything and apologized for his wife. Anyway, he said

1. the transmission valve body has been replaced(never done this on any Volvo I've owned) has receipts for $1500

2. They tranny shop told him that the axle for the rwd portion off the AWD is completely stripped of the splines and the car currently is FWD and it's just spinning without engagaing. He claims you wouldn't know it from driving but he wanted to disclose. (I've seen these cars with over 500hp on stop drive train, does this make any sense or he is waaaay off base). Is it possible for the car to drive with no symptoms at all?

3. He said you have about 15 to 20 degree of rotation on the front wheels when the car is in the air.

4. Claims car is in perfect working order besides these items and I need to do regular maintenance like, mounts, timing belt, etc.

5. He says oil and tranny fluids have been changed on schedule and he purchased the car with all syptoms and his daughter needs to sale it asap due to bills but she owned the car for 1.5 years.

Some of this sounds waaaay out there but the car is 2 hours away so I want to go see it with as much info as possible. I'm only considering it because he is an elderly gentleman and claims the car runs and drives with no issues and no lights are on at all. So I'm curious to see if some mechanic has been jerking his leg and these things are simple fixs?
