2004 volvo xc90 interior light master switch

Post by huzzsaba »

Is there anyway to turn the interior lights off on our xc90s? I run into this problem every camping trip when the car doors are opened frequently causing the battery to drain.

I have replaced the battery and have yet to see if this problem persists with the new battery, but it would be nice to shut the lights off so that they don't always turn on when I open the doors.

Once the doors are opened, hit the dome switch to turn lights off.
However, some lights (passenger foot area) may still be on.

That is what I do.

I am looking for a way to turn off the lights via a switch like in the olden days. Maybe Volvo didnt make a master switch after the s70s?
I checked the fuses and there is no one fuse for the interior lights. If I were to pull out what I think is for the light, I risk losing more than the lights.

Hopefully the new battery will solve my issues.

http://new.volvocars.com/ownersdocs/200 ... a.htm#pg61 Here it says you can override the automatic function, other than that I guess you just have to leave the doors open, the lights will go out after ten minutes, so the critters will have to root around your car in the dark
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Thanks for the reply. So this morning out of curiosity, i hit the main light switch button for 5 seconds and voila! I was able to open all doors without the lights coming on. The lights in the footwell do come on, but thats no big deal.

thanks
