2000 V70 Fresh and recirculating question

When I start my car both the AC off button light and the re circulation light flash for about ten seconds then the green light comes on for fresh air, I then switch it to recirculate. After about 3 to 5 minutes it switches back to fresh. I have tried holding the recirculate for 3 to 5 seconds to switch it out of the timed phase but it still switches back to fresh. Is the ECC possibly gone bad?

Does it actually change from fresh to recirc? The damper motor or the lever from it to the flap could be broken and the ECC unit detects that error. Usually when the ECC itself is bad it doesn't do anything.

To know for sure what errors it is detecting you need to get it scanned.
