Re: VIDA 2012B VMWare Player Image
Thanks much for the links! I got the whole setup to work on a Dell i5 64-bit laptop with Windows 10. Tested it on the wife's XC90 last night with great success with a DiCE purchased from computer_psycho on eBay (received yesterday). It runs a little slow and you have to be patient, but I'm pumped now that know what all of the error messages actually are!

The original links tot the image don't work anymore.
I read that you still have a copy. Could you please provide me the link?
Thanx a bunch!

Hello, I am new here and having problems with my VIDA and DiCE to work and was hoping someone could help me out.
I bought a DiCE from Computer_Psycho on EBAY that came with the VIDA 2014D software. I have Windows 7 home premium on a HP laptop with an I5 2.3Ghz processor and 16 gig of ram. I did the registry change to make the software think i had Windows 7 Professional. The install appeared to go fine. When I plugged the DiCE into the car, then the laptop, it recognized it as DICE-206751 and installed the drivers. I could run the DiCE diagnostic and it appeared to run successfully and all the LED's lit up for the various tests, etc. (multi colored LED's by the way) When I ran the VIDA software, I get a red X in the dialog box for the Communication Tool. I have tried un-installing and re-installing a few times now with the same result. I am currently on IE9 and .NET is at 3.5.1. When I did the DiCE diagnostic, the DiCE firmware was 5.6.2. The DiCE usb driver x64 is 6.2.1. The windows driver package is the SETEK AB at 6.1.7600 (If im reading that right). What am I missing? Is this a JAVA issue?
I decided to try the VM 2012B image that was posted earlier. The VM install went fine as well as downloading and extracting the files. The VM started up fine as well as VIDA 2012B. This time I don't have a red X in the communication tool window. However, it is also not seeing my DiCE when it is plugged in. When I tried to run the DiCE diagnostic on the VM image but it did not see my DiCE.
Am I missing some setting with the VM 2012B version or a firewall setting that will enable it to see and talk to my DiCE?
Am I missing a setting or software version that will resolve the red X in the Communication tool window for the 2014D version?
I have a 04 XC70 that is having what appears to be electronics issues and I want to run some diagnostics to see what's going on.
Any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chuck

Can you check if the file is overdue pls.
Best regards,

Back for an update....My VIDA 2012B VMware image is working now!
I went to the VMware site and looked up why it couldn't see the USB device. Turns out I needed to run my VMware image in FULL SCREEN mode so when I plugged in my DiCE into the USB port, the VM image would control the USB device instead of my host machine with windows 7 on it. I've been trying to get it to work for almost a month and it was as simple as running the VM image in full screen mode.
I was able to run the diagnostics and clear the trouble codes.....and then my battery went below 10 volts and everything just shut off! I will be getting a new battery tomorrow and re-running the diagnostics to clear all the codes and see what happens next.
Many thanks to everyone on this site for all the good info!
Thanks,
Chuck

Glad you got it running. I'm not familiar with VMWare Player but on my VM I used VirtualBox. For proper USB control you need to download, install and configure a separate extension pack. Then you must make sure that you actually select the USB device from the toolbar that's connected to your laptop.

I have read this thread thoroughly and can't get VIDA to work. I was running WinXP until Christmas and using VADIS (I have a '94 850, a '98 S70 and an '04 V70 in my family) because I had no need for VIDA. However, when I received a new computer that is running Win10 64bit, I found I could not load up or use VADIS any longer. Then I discovered this thread!! All was good in the download and using 7-Zip to make a folder full of files. I tried and trie dto get VMWare Player to load up the WinXP Sp3 image and run but get errors about file names being too long etc. and it crashes. Any help would be appreciated. I'm running it in full screen mode.
