What does the glove/balloon test prove?
does it relate to the clog on the bottom hole?
just tried again, engine sucks the latex glove.
before the recent PCV job, it ballooned up the glove.

Short story: The glove test tells you if the PCV is clogged. When the glove inflates, it means the PCV is clogged. That could be a clog in the bottom hole or somewhere else.
Longer story: When the engine runs, it vents crankcase gases into the oil trap. Oil from those gases is supposed to condense inside the trap and drain through the bottom port back into the sump (the oil pan). The gases are supposed to be recirculated to the intake by the PCV hoses. If the bottom hole is clogged then the oil can not drain back through, pressure will build up inside the oil trap and inside the space above the cams under the valve cover, causing the glove to inflate. The same thing happens if other passages in the PCV system are clogged. If the trap or the hoses from it are clogged up then crankcase gases cause the glove to inflate. They also cause cam seals to blow out, rear main seals to blow out, and other similarly unpleasant things.
That lower port is an oil drain, that connects to the square channel in the oil pan.
So when you are doing the PCV job, hook up a piece of tubing to the lower port that we keep talking about. Blow into the tubing and if the passage is clear then you will easily hear/make air bubbles gurgling through the oil that is pooled up in the oil pan. The air passes through the port, down through that square channel and out the hole in the bottom, and makes air bubbles.

looks like this thread by mikealder
does direction of the metal/rubber hose matter?
if you look at the attached picture, mike used it with metal ring to the block.
from what I've seen and followed, it did backward.

In the short term the direction doesn't matter, it will work fine either way, but it may make a difference for durability. Maybe the hose will last longer if you put the rubber outward, metal to the block, like Mike did there.

I did metal to block. I don't think it matters much.
