1998 S70 - how to remove doors? Bolts?

Hello, I've searched the forum but I can't find exactly what I need, called a local Volvo dealer and a foreign body shop nobody could help me.

I'm headed out to pull a door off a parts car and I need to bring all the correct tools to do the job and get out of there and back to work.

What size Torx and reverse torx screws / bits do I need to accomplish this task? Looks like a small one on the electrical connecter, a medium one on the door stop and two external ones on the hinge pins but what sizes are each of these??? Thanks need to stop at the tool place on my way out of town

Don't remove the door bolts. Just the locking pin needs to be loosened, I used a 9/32 socket but you can also use a 7 or 6mm socket to get the Etorx screw loose. The screw doesn't have to come off, just turn it 2 turns or so to allow you to lift the door up and off the hinge.

Thanks guys, yeah Roberts vid is about an 850 which has a different system than the 70 series.

I assume the t10 for the electrical connector and the t40 for the catch strap are the same but that's what I'm trying to make 100% certain of before I get out there and can't pull the door. Is there anyone that confirm exactly the 3 different sizes of the Torx bolts associated with the 70 series doors? I get it on using the 9/32 bit for the reverse torx that's a good idea but if I can buy the correct bit on my way over there I'd be a lot more comfortable

They are the same (P80 cars) but the easiest way is to pull those E bolts 1/2 way down in the hinges. Some people don't have those E-sockets so I skipped that. When you loosen those 2 bolts the door lifts right off.

98 S70:

T10 for the connector
T40 for the strap
E-something for the bolts on the hinges, I didn't check it because I don't own any external torx except E5 for the ABS module. Go with a socket.

Thanks to everyone who chimed in.

I got out there with everything I needed to do the job and had the door off the car and in my trunk within 10-15 mins.

I went with the 6 or 7 mm socket for the E bolt and I did tear those up a little bit... I will probably want to either find the right E bit to remove my door, or get new pegs either or.
