Hi all,
The lights in the side of the door (which you only see when the door is open) on all four doors just flop around, sometimes crunching when someone closes the door. I bought a replacement, which works fine but do I need a bracket or clips to keep it attached to the door?
I keep looking online and here but haven't been able to find anything about it. It's kind of embarrassing, especially since I've done a tune-up, replaced an ABS/TRACS module, changed brakes/rotors and swapped a CV axle — yet, it's a piece of plastic that is driving me crazy! Can anyone help!?
Thanks,
Bruno

I glued mine. I know, not elegant. But effective. I'm sure you could get the part online from Volvo parts retailers... try eEuroparts, an MVS sponsor. Or walk in to your Volvo dealer's parts desk.
Or a pick-n-pull, but that is likely to be just as old and brittle as your bracket.

Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Yup, went through the same thing on my car. Tried pick and pulls but they all didn't survive getting pulled out of the car.
FCP has them as well as amazon.

Most of mine have been stuck in place with some clear silicone caulk. I try to remember to order them as I put together other parts orders but they always seem to slip my mind.

Thanks, all!
I did order the URO light replacement, which works and fits, but it seems like it should snap into a bracket that fits inside the door. Right now, it's just the bare metal opening.
Silicone caulking would do it, I'm sure, but what's the OEM way?

From factory, the assembly has plastic clips that fit in the rectangular hole.
Over time with the door opening and slammed close, the clips break.
Silicone caulk is fine.

A couple of mine had cracked and I put a piece of folded over, dense, adhesive-backed weatherstrip in the "U" shape area before super gluing the cracked piece. Even if it breaks again where it was glued, the adhesive backing will hold it in place. Silicone would probably work even better as long as everything is really clean.
If yours is broken off but you still have the broken piece from the plastic clip, I'd highly recommend this method.

The only real downside to caulking them in is that it makes it tough to change the light bulbs when they burn out but the lamps aren't mission critical anyway.
