1998 V70 T5 OEM trailer hitch question

Post by nathanso »

I just purchased this V70 that has on it a Volvo p/n 3529209 trailer hitch.

I want to use it for a hitch-mount bike rack I have that fits a 2" receiver. The Volvo hitch opening measures 41mm (or 1.6") which doesn't match the 1.25" or 2.0" USA standards that I'm familiar with. Ideally I'd like to get an adapter from 1.6" to 2.0". Such adapters exist for upsizing 1.25" to 2.0" (for light work like bike racks) and I supposed I could shim such an adapter with a little welding if necessary.

Any insight on this Volvo hitch's size and what's available that fits it?
