1998 V70 T5 2,3l Missing part on cylinder head?

After finishing some jobs (changing timing belt, service PCV system), I noticed that on the cylinder head there must be a part missing.
Does anybody know what is supposed to go there, because I did not remove anything from there?

Interesting, it is certainly machined to take some kind of sensor or similar and has 2 threaded mounting holes. Must be something for Volvo testing.

I'm sure you're right. They all have those holes/connections/whatevers, but I've never seen it used for anything. Could also be some kind of assembly line feature, I guess. I know someone who works on the line for Volvo in Sweden - I might ask her if maybe she knows.

This gets asked about every so often. Some 93 or 94 have something there , I forget now what it is. You could find it with some searching but I'm on a phone not up for that. But yeah otherwise the great majority of p80 engines do not, nothing is missing.

Some 5 cylinders have secondary air injection ported there. The turbos of that year range have secondary air plumbed into exhaust bend at turbo outlet.
