Thank you for posting that! I don't know why I didn't look on your channel before. While I'm under the hood this weekend, I'll check over all of the vacuum hoses.

Hooked up the OBD scanner today... P0445 is for a vacuum leak. If I clear the code, it comes right back, so I doubt it's the purge valve. Unless the one I put in is no good, but it's from my cousin's car, and he just replaced his purge valve with a junkyard one with no luck in getting rid of P0455, which leads me to believe that this one is good.

I am surprised your air bags did not shatter your windshield as they did on my '93. It must be the different dash design in '98.

This thread has a few of the many photos I had taken.

The dash design is a little different, but it did shatter the windshield. It's still in tact, but it's pretty bad.
Your car came out great! It looks fantastic!

Well, I got lucky at the pull a part today! I discovered that they had gotten a '98 V70 two days ago, and I had jokingly said "watch it turn out to be a XC, and have the grille I want." Turns out by some miracle it was! And I got the grille I've been dying for for a reasonable price! Plus it complements my prancing moose magnets I got yesterday.

Just need to paint the fender and hood and replace the bumper.

I also got the seatbelts, and the SRS light is now off after I cleared out the codes. Now, it's time to get to the transmission. I picked up a spare PNP switch just in case, and maybe I'll get lucky again and have that fix the tranny.
I had the car running today, and I turned on the heat for a minute to see how it works, then I noticed a loud clicking from the engine. It goes faster when the RPMs are higher. What can I do about that? I think I've heard it before, but never that loud. I think it might be a lifter. The oil level looks fine, and I refuse to put any additives in the oil to stop it.

The lifters may fill up after running a little bit.
Good score on the grill.
I still have my front bumper if you feel like painting it black. It does have the holes for the headlight wipers.

Probably, I didn't have the car running very long. I'll get back to you on the bumper pretty soon, we want to take care of the last few things with the transmission first.

I got my coolant reservoir hose today to find out that the hose isn't the problem... the fitting on the expansion tank is broken. Off to buy a new reservoir now...

It's been a little while, but I've been documenting this set of issues on a separate thread relating to the transmission. I got a new battery for the car today and I've been working on diagnostics on several different programs.
I'd type up a little summary, but it's so much that I can't even think about putting it together right now. Sorry to sound so lazy... I promise that's not how I'm treating the car!
Anyway, for any information on that, and some information that definitely seems useful on this forum, check out that thread here: https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... =1&t=72124

I'll keep this thread going (including pictures) once I continue the body work (PAINT!) and other various little things. Speaking of various smalls, the passenger side knee panel is now being held up (rather well, I must say) by harbor freight double sided tape. Good solution if you don't want to drill into anything! Just make sure you use enough (3 inches on the right side, 1-2 on the left edge). Works much better with the panel without the '99+ style cubby due to it being lighter.
Still need a solution for the trunk/tailgate panel...

I picked up a new coolant expansion tank on Saturday at the junk yard. The tank itself is almost new, I just feel bad for the car I pulled it from. It was a '98 XC that STILL RAN when it got there. Original window sticker, manuals, and everything on the floor. Fully loaded car, third row, heated seats... the extent of the damage? A dent in the fender. That was all. I hate seeing people throw away perfectly good cars. The thing was in better shape than my car!
Anyway, I also threw in a new ECU just to test it, and I got the same results with that one as I did with my old one (that was in the car), so that isn't the problem. Other than that, the car is running great. I'd really like to do an oil change and overhaul the PCV, along with getting the paint on the hood, fender, and cleaning the paint on the driver's side taken care of. My dad is telling me to wait on the other things, but I don't do that. If all else fails, it's off to a manual swap!....eventually.
