2008 v50 Clicking noise under the dash...

Hi,

I'm new on this forum. I have a 2008 Volvo v50, 1.6D car and I have a clicking noise under/in the dash/air vents area especially when I turn on the defroster. Eventually, the noise will stop after the defrost is turned off and perhaps I open one of my window. It sounds like the plastic gear disengaging noise. Is this problem can be solved by removing only the glove box and fixing the defroster damper gear or I have to remove the damn whole dash/facia panel to fix this problem? Any takers? Many thanks...

There is a software upgrade that may fix this. Along with blend door motor calibration. It may be a bad motor, or the armature has fallen off, or something is blocking the blend door.

mbreed... thank you for reply. I just received the VIDA/DICE combo unit which, I install install it to a PC w/Window 7 on it and I'll give it a try.
