1998 NA V70 which inner tie rod to get?

Post by mika »

There is alot of conflicting information whether I should get the TRW or SMI inner tie rods.
(based on FCP guidelines, useless, and the IPD directions contradict themselves). I think I need the TRW because I have a 7 digit product id. I dont know where to look on the rack to see the brand either.

I looked at the acceess plate, looked at the 5th line: 4F2PEVS. But on IPD website, it says that last number should be either a 4 or a 5. But on mine, it is clearly an S.

Can anyone help guide me into the right direction on which inner rod to get? ( I can barely drive my car, my alignment is all off after me trying to jack-stand-string align it, and I am convinced having the alignment off and driving has worn the inner tie rod quicker, it pops and clicks on normal turns now. )

Very helpful.

To close this topid for the future: dont bother with the metal info plate. only way to know it to look at the rack itself (in most cases). There are 2 examples to support my statement: on thread above, both people with 7 digit product ID had an S instead of a 5 or a 4: one had an SMI rack and one had a TRW.
