The pump module looks like it got to sample road salt.

How does it get that hot in the first place? Is it strapped to the back of the catalytic converter? Is this something I should think about doing on my 2004 T5 RWD XC90?

It isn't a heat issue, it's purely a corrosion issue. Aluminum/gold on the inside, aluminum/road salt on the outside = battery.

Zzzzzzzzzactly. $78/fill up + car payment = ouch. I *LOVE* the XC90. It is amazing in the snow and impossible to to spin. Superb car and I would not hesitate to purchase another one in the future.

I think the dealer is the only one that can help. Catalog could be wrong or the part is superceded and there is an adapter harness.

Hi, is there such a thing as an adapter harness that I can buy? If so where? I'm having the same issue, but it will be so much more work to resend the new pump back to where I bought it from. Thanks.

Re PEM:

- Get the new one from dealer for $250. Or Xemodex for $300.
This is a part that can you stranded, so get a new one, I'd not buy it used on ebay.

- After all, your original fuel pump may be OK. So keep the old fuel pump as spare for long trip.
