2006 Volvo XC90 Why does it have 2 fuel pumps

2006 Volvo XC90 Why does it have 2 fuel pumps

Hi, was having some issues with stuttering while trying to pass other vehicles so decided to change the fuel pump. After getting the new one, we found out that the old one has 2 pumps.
Question 1: Why does it have two pumps?
Question 2: Which one do I change?
Question 3: Can I change this set up to the new one that only has 1 pump? Wiring etc?

Question #1 What is the fuel pressure KOEO & KOER ?
Question #2 Why do you think the fuel pump is going to fix your problem ?
Question #3 Have you ever replaced the pump in a XC 90 ?
