Hey guys, wondering if any of you have experienced this issue. The other day radio worked fine when I got gas, got back in and restarted had no sound. The radio powers up, is illuminated, goes from tape to FM1 and FM2, and AM. All indicators change, like the ST, Dolby, and ASC. However, there is no sound from any speaker.
I've added an input to the tape deck and added hatch speakers, but that's it. And, after unplugging those added items, there is no change.
I've inspected the wires, which appear to be okay, and had intermittent work once when I fiddled with the speaker wire plug. I took the step in using corrugated protector to keep them safe, but nothing else. As I see it, it may be in the radio, its amp or the socket (inspected the circuit board for cold solder joints), or the plug may be bad. On initial inspection the plug appears solid.
I've only experienced this once before on another vehicle, and a cobbled speaker connection was shorting. All connections are OE, in this vehicle those.
Help me, friends.

Alright, so I took a 9volt battery and applied voltage to the harness for each speaker and each one popped individually, no weirdness. Unless there is some weird impedance somewhere, it's gotta be the head unit. I'll do a little more checking, then find a good unit, I guess.

If getting out and back into the car made a difference, I'd assume that the radio died. Check the fuses, make sure there is no amp in the system, then replace the head unit.
