2000 V70R - O2 sensors question?

Post by scot850 »

I'm looking at replacing the O2 sensors to see if it will help improve the poor mpg and sooty running ( latter may only be due to lack of use).

I know the upstream sensor is a Bosch 17070 and downstream is a Bosch 16197. Looking at Rock Auto site (seems like best price currently) it states the upstream sensor has a 48" lead and the downstream a 25" lead. Isn't that the wrong way around? I recall having to buy a connecting extender lead for the 98 V70XC we had, but none is listed, so is it required?

Thanks,

Neil.

That does sound wrong since they connect at the top of transmission where the plugs dock in the plastic carrier plate.

The harness adapter was to stop oil migration through harness that was poisoning the oxygen sensor. That shouldn't be an issue with the 2000 model.

As always jimmy, I bow to your wisdom! Many thanks, and I guess this means no extender required. I'll re-look at where the connections are made to confirm before buying.
