I have five incomplete's and have driven 300 miles and they won't come off. Can I change the ecu to get them off.

Changing the ECU will not do it.

If this is for a smog inspection or something, where are you located, are you sure the monitors need to reset? In many states, it is no longer required.

I live in NY and can have no more then 2 incompletes. The problem is that there was only one code p0410. I replaced the secondary air pump and then these incompletes showed up.

Can I just swap out another ecu. Will that take away the 5 incompletes

No, most have to complete the drive cycle. Have the station check the vehicle for exemptions.

+1 - And the'98's are notorious for being an absolute PITA
as far as clearing those. By all means, find the guy at the
inspection desk that's got the time to check it out.

We haven't got smog rules in Fairbanks anymore, but when
we did, that saw my car coming a mile a way and wrote me
an exemption for that aspect of the test on the spot.

Ummm see the first reply ... swapping the ECU will not take away incompletes, you have to complete the drive cycle(s).

I think your car is exempt in NY, send PM to moderator abscate he is a NY owner who probably knows the rules.

Two incomplete drive cycles allowed on a 1998 in NY. You do need to educate your forage on this, I've found.

Five incompletes mean something is wrong with your car though. Other than the EVAP, all the others will go ready in under 50 miles of driving
