oil pan replaced, now noise from flexplate?

Post by kauboi »

Hi, I just replaced the o rings on my pickup tube, and between the pan and block. Got the pan back on, filled with oil, new filter, started the engine and scraping sound is coming from bell housing, changes when shifting into drive reverse neutral etc., so I'm thinking flexplate. What did I do wrong?

Check the bolts no the trans side of the oil pan, this is relatively common. I can't remember which is the cause but: if you put them in crooked or put a long one where a short one is supposed to be, then you will get a scrape. I might pull out just those bolts one by one, and figure it out that way.
