00 S70 OBDII plug relocation

Post by Rondo »

Hey folks, anyone have any tips on relocating my OBDII port? I'd like to keep my elm adapter plugged in and obviously that props the armrest up. I'm not real keen on pulling the entire center console as its probably pretty brittle at the tabs. Thanks.

I really don't see a way to do anything that doesn't involve removing the console. If you grab the schematics though you can try to identify the wires as they run under the dash panels and tap off of them there. As horrid as the scanned schematics are for finding the correct page once you do get there they are very detailed as to wire color and the location of junction points. Armed with that information you can find the correct bundle and try to sneak the needed wires out of it to tap off of them. You will need to scare up an OBD-II jack unless you want to chop the plug off of your monitor.

Schematics are linked below but all of the 70 series documents have missing pages. If you get the schematics for both the 99 and 00 you can come up with enough though.

I ran mine under the console, plugged my vag-com cable in and have the cable tucked between the console and passenger seat. I have an old netbook that I only use for vol-fcr.

I'll routinely drive around and test modules... Maybe 40 or so at a time. I always take a coffee and can't deal with the armrest being propped up.

Thank you both. When I can get a "me" day, I'll give it a shot.
