2000 v70 automatic dashboard "christmas lights" and transmission

The ABS light, brake light, trac. control light all come on then the speedometer stopped working. Then the transmission starts to slip and the engine revs but the tranny does not fully engage. This is happening intermittently and hasn't yet completely stopped me from driving because it goes away. I read a similar post that described almost the same problem attributed to a faulty electrical ignition switch. I really hope that is the problem. Can anyone verify or give advice.

More likely the ABS module is failing, but if the issue tends to go away, then it is more likely the ignition switch electrical portion failing. Either way not horribly expensive.

That definitely sounds like ABS module to me. Transmission is likely having problems because of the speed sensor built into the ABS module (also why the speedo isn't working). It's not getting the signal, therefore the transmission doesn't know when to shift.

I previously thought that the ABS module was going bad because I would get the ABS light and Trac. Control light flashing then they would go away with no other symptoms. So this is interesting. It may be just a continuation of the same problem.

That's part of the abs module's steady downhill slide. It starts out as random intermittent traction and abs lights. Once it degrades enough it no longer supplies a valid speed signal to the speedometer or tcu and you go into limp mode.

If manipulating the ignition switch back and forth while driving makes the issue go away then you have an ignition switch issue.

Update: now the odometer reads ----- and the car has no reverse. Drive works but is slipping intermittently. The same lights are still coming on and check engine light too.

No up arrow at all. Just checked and reverse and drive both work now
