1998 v70 XC Left Rear Door Won't Open Door from Outside
1998 V70XC. A month ago, I replaced the left rear door lock assembly. When I put all back together everything worked perfectly. Door opened and closed, locked and unlocked, inside and outside just fine. Now, the door handle on the outside will only open/unlatch the door part of the time (maybe 3-4 times out of 10). The interior door handle works perfectly every time. First, I don't know the source of the problem given that it worked fine before. Second, do I have to once again remove the interior door panel to investigate and resolve this issue? What may be the problem given that it works sometimes and not other times?

Been a while since I have been in there repairing one of these. Take the liner off again and check that everything is still attached. There is a plastic clip that can crack/break that holds this together. Also check if the rod can be adjusted. If it can you may just have to adjust the length to make the outside one catch.

Thanks Scot850. I don't look forward to pulling door panel again (I'm out of replacement door panel clips) and an on-line provider wants $2.99 per clip plus shipping.
Can't understand how it worked fine after replacing the door lock assembly but it is what it is.
