2000 v70 transmission dipstick

I have 212K miles on my car and have had it for 2.5 years. Still haven't checked the auto tranny fluid (can't find the dipstick). Is there a dipstick? I have heard from some that there is no tranny dipstick on my car and the owner's manual doesn't mention it. I looked at Robert's video, but my car looks different that the 850 in the video. Should I stress out about this. The car was well maintained before I got it and it was shifting fine before the ABS module went.

Any Ideas?

Do a search on Volvo 9497557.
Yours is probably broken at the handle.

To answer your second question: not worth stressing about, but worth finding where it is and checking the condition of the fluid. Likely the fluid is due for a change; even with well maintained vehicles people often ignore the transmission fluid.

To help you find it: if it is the original dipstick (also likely) then it should have a red handle.

Not sure about the 2000, but my 1998 has the yellow transmission dipstick under the air intake duct that comes from the fan shroud/upper radiator support.

You are completely correct! Darn, that's an engine with a Motronic 4.4 management system pictured. Seems Volvo would've updated their owner's manuals :evil:

There is NO Motronic 4.4 engine....there is Motronic 4.4 engine management.

Volvo did revise the engine for 1999, but the engine isn't the difference between Motronic 4.4 and Motronic 7.
