I`ve just got myself a 2001 S60 D5. It seems to have the common ABS brake failure with the warning light and the service message in the instrument cluster. It is also got a message about faulty DSTC.
I`ve got it scanned with VIDA, and it says it`s the rear right wheel sensor that got faulty signal.(Code 0041)
I got this fault code deleted, but as soon as I drove the car for a couple of hundred meters it came back. As long as the car doesn`t move it stays off. I dismantled the sensor and cleaned it, it looks good. Then I got my backseat out, and unplugged the ABS sensor connector. When I connected an Ohm-meter between the two wires, it reads about 570.Then I did the same on the left rear side, and got the same reading.
I did also try the AC-volt test when I drove the car, but got no reading at all. Same result at both sides. One thing I did notice was when I unplugged the left sensor, another abs-warning symbol appears in the instrument cluster. As soon as I plugged it back again and restarted the car it was gone. This didn`t happen when I unplugged the right side……? In other words the module did not recognize the unplugging. Maybe I`m wrong, but this leads me away from the sensor, and over to a faulty ABS module…?
I may obtain a used ABS module with identical number; 8619466 10.0947-0407.3
Could I just plug this in for a test drive, or do I have to reprogram?
I thought it would be an idea to try this before I buy a new wheel sensor.
Please let me know what you think! I appreciate suggestions

The car can't test the sensor unless it is moving, that's normal. You could have a sensor or wiring problem which you can sort out with a voltmeter
