did a engine swap on my 01 Volvo v40, the belt broke and bent some valves, the engine had over 255000 miles on it. Found a used engine out of a 03 v40 with 95000 miles on it. Swapped the engines out, and the 03 engine started on the first try, and four treys after that, got a error code on the forth try, P0036, which I also had on the old engine. So I shut it down, and got side tracked looking for information on that code, and doing a couple of other things to finish out the swap, and left the key in the in the # II position. Came back a couple of days later tried to start the car, no luck, thought maybe week battery, tried to jump it, no luck. than I noticed that the immobilizer light, the car with the X through it, was flashing. Only had one key, so I could not check to see if the original key was bad after sitting in that position for a couple of days. Talked to a few Volvo mechanics here in Denver, all came up with the same conclusion, IMMO or ECU bad, So I pulled the IMMO and ECU and sent them out to be tested/reprogrammed. The company that did this for me also cut me a new key, Once I installed the items, I was able to get the car to crank with the new key, the old key would not crank the car and set the Immobilizer flashing again.Put the new key back in and the car would crank, still no start. I have check for power in the necessary places, good there. fuses/relays good, fire to plugs good. 46 psi at fuel rail. Just as long as I sprayed starter fluid in the intake the car would run, next test, pull the plugs to see if they are wet, plugs not wet, could only hear the injectors pulsing/working on the initial start for maybe 1-2 seconds,
Can anyone give me a clue or further troubleshooting tips as to what may be the issue here ?
