About check engine light & abs...seems that those codes are related(scroll down):

Thanks Misha; They do seem to be related. I'm not going to erase anything until I have it checked tomorrow by someone with a better code reader and more experience than me. All this started after I had the rusty left front tone ring replaced with one from Dorman.

Find somebody with Vida or take the car to a dealership for code readout.
Did you re-connect abs sensor after abs ring replacement?
Does replacement abs ring have exact number of teeth like it supposed to?
Install the old abs ring back and see what happens.

Aftermarket parts usually brings more harm than good

So I took it to someone with a reader/scanner with all the bells and whistles, VIDA I think. Monitored functions of all 4 wheels while driving. Graph showed intermittent momentary loss of signal from left front wheel and intermittent engagement of ABS. Cause could not be determined. Managed to get rid of lights for awhile but now they are back, ABS and CEL. Checked tone rings, old and new, both have same # of teeth. Sensors have continuity when checked with multimeter. Dunno where to go from here. Don't even know what parts to try throwing at it. Any ideas anyone?

Has the ABS module been rebuilt yet?

There are only two kinds, those that have been rebuilt and those that will need to be rebuilt. They have a 100% failure rate due to the way the board was soldered from the factory and the solder joints on the connector sockets crack and get intermittent. They finally get bad enough that you actually lose the speedometer.

Yes I had the module rebuilt by a dealer mechanic about 1.5 years ago. The bad module was the reason the original owner sold the car to me. The guy who did the scan tested the module one wheel at a time and it checked out good. I'm beginning to wonder if the LF sensor is intermittently flakey so will probably try a new one as the next step. Just hope I don't break the mounting bolt (had this happen before on a Saab).

Update - it's been more than a few weeks now and at the moment things are working fine. What I did was to remove the LF sensor, cleaned it well, cleaned the mounting area well of rust and debris and reinstalled it. Erased codes and all is good. I did buy a new sensor but never used it. Thanks all for the help!
