Ok so on tear down mode. I don't see the reference marks for cam timing.
Can't seem to get the serpentine belt from around the crank pulley either
While this is torn down what else should be replaced. Water pump, idler pulleys thermostat?

2001 head gasket
So after healing up from a fall- I got the head to the machine shop today. Its out 0.028"
Machine shop cant find specs on allowable milling and suggested a block shim.
Is Cutting 0.030 too much for the 2.8L heads?
Is there a shim available from somewhere.
