head job

Post by ejbj »

Hi. I had a misfire and after a leak down test and sticking a tiny camera in the spark plug hole I was confident enough to take the head out. I found a burn exhaust valve.
I replaced it, but now the tappet/cam follower sits too high compared with all the other in the exhaust. how do i adjust this? i understand they are solid but cannot find size options to buy.

any clues?

thanks

Ed

What car and year are you working on?

If this is a 98 then my first thought is the valve stem is too long, where did you get the replacement valve? I would try swapping with another hydraulic lifter just to check that (but the lifters should always go back paired with the same valve they were with originally).
