no reverse volvo 850

I stopped at my parents house, and got pretty deep into the snow. Tried pulling out and reverse wouldn't engage, got pulled out of the snow. I tried to reverse still didn't seem to be working It would let me roll backwards slowly on a incline. All of the drive gears are working and drove home on the highway without any problems, checked the transmission fluid it was at the bottom notch on hot, so I filled it all the way up on hot and still nothing with reverse. not really sure what to check or what could be causing the problem. When I put it in reverse it revs up like its in neutral, tires don't spin though.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Ugh. Does not sound good. Forward gears are fine? Start practicing pull through parking, and saving your pennies for a good used one. Have you been drain and flushing regularly?

I flushed it about 4000 miles ago and then had it drained when I put new axles in about 1000 miles ago. I checked the codes to see what I was getting I had an oxygen sensor code and p0422 threshold bank 1 effeciency is low.

No reverse is usually the death sentence of an Auto Trans.
I wonder if you can find a reverse solenoid somewhere online...

I tried putting the car in reverse and started pushing it backwards. After about 5 feet reverse engaged and started rolling on its own. I had to jump in the car stop it from rolling, Then after stopping its still not really engaging it seems to engage for a few second and then rev the engine, like it slipped into neutral.

I know a guy that drove his 850 for about 120,000 miles with no reverse. Is the arrow in the dash flashing?

No flashing lights, Would the on board obd give me anything different than the obd II scan tool? I m not getting any codes related to the transmission. One of my friends thinks the solenoid 2 on the transmission is old and might not be working correctly because I can push start it into reverse. Ya, might be doing the Flinstone for a while.
