Here's what I think I know:
Bosch AL0854X is the 140amp that will communicate via lin bus ( found this # from other forums)
(After 2 pain staking hours on the phone with Bosch directly....and I was still left with a "this is what we think is right"
Even when I attempt to search with the OEM number 36050266 various places cross back to garbage numbers. I've also called every local used foreign auto yard around with no luck. I've checked on ebay and people are still listing these alternators claiming they will work from 03 - 09 and refer to garbage numbers........
The dealer wants my first born, dibs on my girl friend, and $900. Worst part about it is that I just bought this xc90 (because my girlfriend tanked her 04 xc90 she had into a pole) and someone had already stuck the wrong alternator in it, so I don't have the old one to just have rebuilt, nor do I have an alternator that will work as an identical core, which the dealer said would be another $500.
Again I'm really looking for the correct aftermarket part number is someone knows it, as this will be my best solution. Second option is to search harder for OEM part number outside of my local stealerships.
If I could ask for a second piece of advise.....what is the bang for the buck scan tool that will allow me to communicate with this car (not just typical OBD2 engine scanner) ? Would much rather have my own then keep bugging my local shop to let me use their snap-on scanner.
