Having starting issues and heater/AC issues.
Having starting issues and heater/AC issues.
Hello! first post to this forum as i have just recently bought my 2000 Volvo S70 T5 turbo, the car has an issue of cranking, starting, then immediately shutting off and not starting again. I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pump relay, O2 sensor, and crank shaft position sensor. With still no luck and not getting better. My next attempt is going to be replacing the immobilizer antenna ring. if this doesn't help i am left clueless. Also, the heat and a/c work fine but when i set for it to blow to my feet it doesn't work. If anyone has any input or suggestions please let me know!

Look up ETM issues (Electronic Throttle Module) and also electrical portion of the ignition switch.

Wouldnt the electrical portion of the ignition switch be the immobilizer antenna ring?scot850 wrote:Look up ETM issues (Electronic Throttle Module) and also electrical portion of the ignition switch.

Nope, it's the grey part of the switch on the left side of the steering wheel.

So I figured out the starting issue, The mechanic I first took it too when the problem first started said he replaced the fuel pump relay. I just jumped the terminals last night and it starts right up! Still need help with figuring out why my heat isn't blowing towards my feet though.

If you have electronic climate control one of the linkages on the motors has probably fallen off. Easy fix.
Did you have a bad relay or was it not replaced first time?

I believe it is a ECC unit, which motor would it be? isnt there a couple different ones there?abscate wrote:If you have electronic climate control one of the linkages on the motors has probably fallen off. Easy fix.

It was indeed a bad relay and the shop told me they bought a new one, replaced it, but the car still wasnt starting so they put the old relay back in...
When i jumped it myself it started right up, driving with it jumped until the relay i ordered comes in.

There are four motors on the ECC. You have ECC if your flow control knob has "AUT" setting of course, otherwise it's an MCC controlled with cables.
There are two temp motors ( left right) one flow motor, and recirc/fresh motor.
Obviously your flow control motor is the one either acting up or has gotten unlinked

Yes it is an ECC then, Where would it be located so I can check it. An what would be unlinked? Everything works on it except the feet control option. Sorry I am new to these cars.abscate wrote:There are four motors on the ECC. You have ECC if your flow control knob has "AUT" setting of course, otherwise it's an MCC controlled with cables.
