rops system
i have 99 c70 vert and i had a bunch of burned out dash bulbs so i took off the dash and removed the cluster and change out the bulbs the t5 and t10 bulbs. anyway i did not have the rops light on when i started this and now it is on. i tried to put the top down today as it wend down before i took out the cluster because i heard if the rops is on the top fails, i got the back of the top to go up but then it stopped. so i put on a harbor freight scanner and it did not find any codes so that scanner can't find it but i need to find out what may have turned it on. i had the battery disconnected the whole time and did not try any power until i had the bags back in and connected to avoid that problem. anyone have some ideas? nothing in the owner book about this. thanks

The ROPS is a chassis / SRS code and a standard scanner won't tell you anything about it. Unless you get an uber high end scanner with custom modules no powertrain scanner will ever see it. VIDA/DICE can read it and the clones are fairly cheap, about the same price that you typically pay a shop for a scan.

where can i get one of them.
also this is what i have now
i have a 99 c70 and the top fails to go down. a bit of history. the top did work before i took the dash out to repair bulbs. i disconnected the battery and now that i have finished i get a rops light and the top only lets me raise the back window. i tried to use the manual tools and i got the back lid up but then the top button would flash so that tells me something the was out of sync. i even used the tool to unlock the top from the front and i could then push the top down but it would not finish going down. it would go back up but not lock. i got it to lock using the tool.
some have talked about a limit switch and i find on on the back window on the passenger side but not the drivers side. but my back window never gets to that switch. i unplugged the switch and ohmed it and it does work and i tried jumpering the other section of that switch but the top still would not go any more. now before this the top did go down when i got it this fall i made the dealer put it down and i put it down just to makes sure i had the sequence down. so i know it did work. can the rops be causing this and if so how do i get past it? thanks

I bought my DICE unit from a seller on Aliexpress (Alibaba) but you can get them on ebay as well. There is a big disparity in quality on the clone units so it isn't as easy as one would think to just pick the lowest price and get it shipped. There are some very in depth threads about ones that work and others that don't in the VIDA/VADIS/ DICE forum.

The DICE device is about $110-$150. Mixed review.
The VIDA laptop is another issue, kind of complex to build it, see the VIDA forum for more info.
