94 940 electronic climate control gremlins?

Post by Johndillingham »

My 940 came to me with a blown head gasket and warped head. Replaced the head and it runs fine, with a few aggravations, to wit:
1. AC won't turn off, unless I dissconnect the compressor.
2. No heat will flow. Dash defroster and floor vents work as usual.
3. After running for about ten minutes, the Condensor fan remains on after turning the car off. Undoing the battery for just a second, allows the fan to quit. It will run until it runs down the battery otherwise.
4. Fuel and temp gages don't work. suggestion to reflow the solder joints gave no improvement.
I list these things, because they may all be related. Any help appreciated! I'd like to drive this car for the rest of winter, while I do some fun suspension stuff to my M46 740. Thanks for listening!!

Maybe the overheating problem that warped the head damaged more than just the head and head gasket. Is the coolant level where it should be?

Thanks for the tips. It has vac to the heater control valve. Yes, maybe more was damaged, but coolant level is steady. That thing with the fan coming on after five min running and not going off is just freaky!
