heavy black smoke coming from exhaust s60 2005 2.5t

Post by volvomadness »

Car runs fine no cel's but heavy black smoke coming from exhaust.

Hope its not rings. Turbo?. Read I can test turbo sensor by discounting mAF and if smoke goes away it may be sensor. Are there any other tests or telltale signs if its the turbo?

Bad thermostat and engine coolant temperature sensor can cause a rich running condition (black smoke). When's the last time they were changed?

You can have many bad engine conditions without CEL.

It's very unlikely to be a turbo problem, much more likely to be rich running due to the thermostat as noted above
