That would be the end of the road for transmission.
Does it ever engage in any other speed when it slips in D?Like R or 3 or L?

No that's the first thing that came to mind. But I had no luck with any. it engages in all gears when it's cold but still feels like it's gonna slip if I give it gas.misha wrote:That would be the end of the road for transmission.

It has 141k. Bought the car with a bad head gasket and didn't know it so I fixed that. This is my first big trip with the car. I've put maybe 300 miles in a year on it. So I'm pretty frustrated.cn90 wrote:How many miles on the trans?

Maybe it was abused or flushed sometimes in the past.
Maybe oil change in the past contributed to early failure.
For auto transmissions is more risky to change the oil than not to do it.
99% of auto transmission failures are happened AFTER oil change.

That's right, forgot to take the year into account!misha wrote:Since it's '95 he can read codes under the hood.Flash codes.bmdubya1198 wrote:Did/can you scan for codes? Sometimes you can get transmission codes through OBD2. I assume there is at least one due to the CEL on and the up arrow light.
For obd2 he will need at least Vol-fcr.

Yeah I fixed the odometer. It went out like a month after I bought it. It's always shifted really harsh whenever I have it full throttle. But it's never showed one sign of weakness. I drove 800 miles a week ago and it did flawless.cn90 wrote:Interesting...141K seems early for the AW trans, which should last some 250K+.
Is your odometer working?

I highly doubt the person before me ever did any preventative maintenance. Lol trust me, I'm dealing with their neglect now.misha wrote:Maybe it was abused or flushed sometimes in the past.

I never changed oil in auto transmission as adviced by Volvo and i don't have intention to do it.Bought the car almost new back in 2000.
These transmissions are sealed for life.
850,s,v,c,xc70 are sport luxury cars.On full throttle and kickdown it is normal to shift harder.
Auto transmission is much more precise than on Mercedes. If somebody ever drove A-class with auto trans knows what i'm talking about.
When i tried it for first time i thought trans was broken.
