I admire this guy's engineering. Looks like something I would have done when I was 16. Rat rod esque whatever works

I agree, I just don't see how it would add that much less heat to the intake. I'd love to see a dyno before and after installing the kit.

Bigger intercooler = less heat? The Do88 website does a pretty comprehensive job of explaining it. http://www.do88.se/en/artiklar/volvo-85 ... ler-4.html

I was going to ask that. What exactly is reverse intercooler piping (that is what everyone is referring to?) good for? It doesn't really make sense to me that it would give you any performance benefit.

So the less bends an intake has the more power it will make. Our stock ic piping is probably 14" longer than necessary. Will be putting the scan tool on my car today for first time, cel or MIL is burned out I'm guessing

Turbocharging is all about shoving the coldest most dense charge of air into the manifold. This is the job of the Ic and it's maze of plumbing. Look at some Arab sand drag racing on you tube if you want to see some wild intercoolers and turbos. These guys are literally dumping buckets of ice into their intercoolers before a race!!!

Ah, that makes sense. Same idea as putting in a short ram intake, less piping.

Scan tool on last night, pulled codes:
1310 refer to svc manual
0305 cyl 5 misfire
0303 cyl3 misfire
0300 random multi cyl misfire
These codes were logged when I drove the car home from sellers house on 3 cyl. Got it home, plug wires were arcing to the block under the cover. Since have replaced most of ignition components and running smooth on all 5. Codes cleared 2 attempts . Will perform drive cycle test and re check for codes when my yard is dry enough to get the damn thing out!!

The RIP kit effect is probably placebo. When you have feet upon feet upon feet of intake piping, the several inches you chop out with the fancy tubing is negligible. If it isn't, the effect cannot be worth anywhere near the cost when the same money gets you an ECU tune.

My two cents.
