Best rotors and pads for 98 V70 T-5 ?

Looks like my front strut bearings from FCP have failed in under a year. Since I'm going to have the car in the air I figure I might as well add some new rotors and pads. My main concern is reducing brake dust. My turbo wheels always look like complete crap from all the dust. Thoughts on front and rear replacement?

Unfortuantly I can only recommend slotted rotors and the stock Volvo pads.

Although I can't recommend a pad to address your concern, I do recommend slotted rotors, as they do help with sudden braking, especially in tough weather conditions.

I'm getting ready to make a pad/rotor purchase.

After trying aftermarket and getting squeaks, I'm resigned to the concept of

1. Quiet
2. Clean

Pick One.

Does that mean stick with stock parts?

How about ceramic pads to reduce dust?

I have mintex pads- the dust is relatively low and they have good stopping power. Lately they have gotten a little squeaky. I use drilled rotors- and I am not sure what brand they are. FCP Groton has a wide selection of pads and rotors.

I've found cross drilled rotors but not slotted. And as for pads I know Autozone sells ceramic for $50 - 60.

Matt is right

volvo pads will be queit but not clean

minitex/ceramic will be clean not quiet

I replaced my front rotors and pads this afternoon, it started to rain on me so the rears will wait. I went with the eBay drilled but not slotted rotors from a place called UCP Auto Parts in Canada and Mintex pads from FCP Groton. I have only gone around the block but I am very pleased.

I did buy some Permetex anti squeak goop at Advance Auto Parts and backed the pads with it. Thus far, again - around the block, not a chirp.

It sure is nice to not have the front end of the car jump around and the steering wheel jerk back and forth under braking due to the warped rotors.

The old pads on the front were at - give or take - 75% but they were highly glazed. I think I will save them in case the Mintex pads wear out fast or start to squeal.

Back on topic: in my experience, 850 rotors just warp more than other automobile makes. Don't know why, they just do.

Something about volvo's...squeaky brakes. I usually forget about it until the warm weather comes and I have my windows down. I think in general european cars have squeaky brakes and they have high brake dust buildup. I have seen brake dust covers that try and minimize the amount that gets on the wheel...but they would not look good on any wheel were you can see the brake system. What are the benefits of ceramic pads? I have heard that they have less brake dust, better stopping power but shorter life...no comments on noise.
