Yes it can,but not with the idiot lights on since there would be NO electricity because battery terminal was loosened or disconnected for a splice of second.

So far she didn't stall anymore. But my knock sensor code came back. Time to pull the trigger for a new set.

My indie told me the knock sensors never go bad. I had the code, replaced them and still had the code. CVVY solenoid replacement finally fixed mine. I donated my still good old ones to this Board, losing money but gaining both wisdom and karma...

Knock sensors are really just microphones and usually an ohmmeter test will tell you if they are good or not. The torque is pretty important on the mounting bolt. If they get overtightened it can mess up the deflection on the microphone element, much like sticking your finger on a speaker.

How did you narrow it down to the solenoids? Did you had the same code P0326?

I had an intermittent code P0326? which codes to knock sensor - BUT - if you scour the webs the software sets this code if the ECM is unable to resolve engine detonation by retarding the timing. Thus, even though you get a knock sensor code, this is not pointing you to replacing the knock sensor, but figuring out why your engine is pre-detonating. Usuall suspects here - ignition system, fuel delivery, vacuum leak, gross engine problem.

I started getting the CVVT error (I only have EX-CVVT on my 1999) and cleaning the solenoid made it go away for three months - eventually I replaced with a used one, given generously be Lee.
