2004 V70 T5 Flooding? What the heck?

Well, I thought I had my problem solved, now I'm just getting pissed.

At moderately cold temperatures, after the car sits for awhile (usually overnight), this beast is HORRIBLE to get started. I am positive that it is flooding, because it BELCHES black smoke, and stinks like gas. It started instantly yesterday, at 10-below zero, but won't start this afternoon at 25 degrees.

I have newly installed rebuilt injectors in it. I have new plugs. I have a new ECT Sensor. I am throwing NO codes, and after the car starts it runs extremely well.

To clarify, the new spark plugs are Champion Copper, not OEM Volvo. Could that effect this at all?

How about the ECT? That temp is critical for getting the right cold start mix.

Brand new OEM ECT sensor. Well, a couple weeks old...

I'm bumping this thread to see if anybody will chime in on it.

My '04 V70 T5 struggles to start when it's between 10 degrees & 30 degrees, and the car is cold.

It usually FINALLY starts after considerable cranking and sputtering, and pours out a HUGE cloud of gray/black smoke that reeks of gas. Clearly, in that temperature range, the engine is being flooded when I try to start.

The question is: WHY?

I have new OEM Volvo plugs.
I have new/rebuilt OEM injectors.
All my coils are good.
I have a new ECT sensor.
I have thoroughly cleaned the MAF sensor.

There are no codes.
The car runs perfectly once it's started.

What in sam hill is left to check?

Did this happen before or after the new injectors? Check the fuel line pressure. Not sure if these cars use a diaphram style fuel pressure reg, check that too.

This has been an ongoing problem - both before and after the new injectors.

Check fuel pressure at the rail when cold after key on.

Poor fuel pressure can flood the engine just as easily as rich mixtures.

How good is your battery? Our old Audi would not like to start if the old battery got really cold, or when my wife did a lot of short runs, it drained the battery to where it was too low a voltage to allow the car to start.

Battery seems to be perfectly fine.

The odd thing is that, when the temperature is below zero, the car will start right up.
