I am getting this code on A-2 for a 1994 non turbo 850.

122 Solenoid S1 open circuit

I have the radiator fan hot wired to the battery, if that has anything to do with it.

WHat does this mean, and how do I repair?

Um, are you sure its A2, the fuel system?

The code you described is from A1, the transmission.

Did you experience any problems with the transmission, like it going into LIMP mode (locks its self up in third gear)? I had this code before and well, I cleared the code and it never came back...

Clear your codes and wait and see if it comes back.

I, too, am showing a A1-122, open circuit. I took it to my Volvo guy, who read the code, tried to force activate the S1, but couldn't. His diagnosis is replacement. Problem is, I just bought this car, and I have the service records that show the S1 was replaced not 6 months ago, along with a transmission service. The guy I bought it from has kept immaculate records and has every service well documented. When the tranny is cold, it has no problem starting out in low gear. After driving it a few minutes, it goes into winter mode and won't switch back down into low gear until it's completely cold again. This is all well and good while it's winter, but this summer I forsee a problem. I've cleared the codes to no avail.

I'm thinking it may very well be in the wiring. Anyone else have ideas?
