The factory alarm includes a round horn that mounts on the center of the firewall.
If it's not installed, it's two wire connector remains clipped to the black plastic cowling
just below the windshield. My guess is that the plastic that your connector was clipped
off to was broken when your strut tower brace was installed. No biggie...

Not the wreckers yard

No, not the wreckers yard yet Volvofornia and any way, my wife informs me "over her dead body" and of course she is right, it's part of the family  and hey, this car still has a mighty sting in it's tail, I had it Rica'd back 2006 with a larger SS exaust and she can still give those poopy little WRX's a good run for their money!!

Just wondering if your fluid is breaking down at high temps. A full flush/pedal pump at 4 wheels and some new Dot 4 may be all you need.

My mum's Lancer did this one afternoon......boiled the fluid and lost all braking. RACV roadside assist guy found a good hard pedal when he arrived. I suspect she was riding the brake pedal with her lazy left but who knows....

Worth a try........ :D

As far as the master cylinder goes there is a seller in Germany called Rexbo car parts that have RHD master cylinders at very reasonable cost; far less than for a local brake specialist rebuild.

Thanks Mike
I did have it flushed a couple of times, once by me and lastly by my local indi Volvo garage within the last couple of years and it was replaced with new dot 4 each time. I will get some some more dot 4 and give it a try again, is there a special flush fluid or just use fresh fluid and pump the foot Peddle as when bleeding to flush it ?

By the way, I have a new Nissens matrix core part # 9171503 unused in original box for a Volvo V70 T5 2002. I brought it for a spare off Grotons when I put an order together for other bits but never used it so any good to you at $50 Au incl postage. I can send it so you can view it first if you don't mind covering return postage if not wanted. My V70 T5 is now sold and it won't fit my later model XC 90 V8 or I would keep it.
Thanks for the note re the German parts supplier
Cheers
Phil

If you've already dealt with fluid, move on.
These are your Brakes! For everyones sake,
quit messing around and get a new master cylinder.

Gotta agree with Erik....the fluid has been done and if he was a decent mechanic it would have been done properly.

Just had a quick look at Rexbo's site for the master cylinder. There are ATE, TRW & BS (hope that last one doesn't stand for bull****! :D) ranging in price in Euros (about 1.54 Australian right now) You may want to bring in some other items in the box as their usual charge is 33 Euros for quite a bit of weight up to 3kgs I believe.

Thanks Phil for the offer of the radiator; that's too good an offer to refuse but can we do this in February as self employed and January is a lean time???
