Throttle Plate Lag?

Post by RussB »

2000 S70 T5 w/5 speed manual

I bought the car back in May, knowing it needed an ETM. I bought the xemodex unit. I have never driven an ME7 car with the factory ETM.

That said, what I have is a noticeable "Lag" when releasing the throttle pedal. What I mean by that is that the engine RPM's stay up for a palpable amount of time even though your foot is completely off the pedal. This has made me have "rethink" shifting with a manual tranny, because if I release the throttle and push the clutch in, the engine will OVER-rev. I am used to the throttle plate snapping shut like on a conventional throttle plate that is cable driven and spring loaded.

Others have driven my car and experience the same thing

My questions are,

Is this how all ME7 cars are?
Is there an issue with the hardware? The software?

I have installed a boost gauge in my car. When driving with the cruise control activated, I see through the boost gauge that the throttle is "fluttering". It's like the computer/ETM are overcompensating to keep the car at a steady speed. Too much sensitivity perhaps?

My car has a recall on it where Volvo modifies the ETM's software. I have not had this done yet, not knowing how the xemodex ETM would respond to the change. Any comments regarding this are much appreciated

Russ, you should complete the Campaign 155 first, the ETM is fully compatible with this recall. While you at the dealer ask for full vehicle scan and print out, we need to know what codes are stored if any.
