Here you will find a wealth of information about design, function and diagnostic information for any Volvo ECU such as CEM, DEM, BCM, DIM etc. Here, we will try to "demystify" how these nodes communicate on the CAN and LIN networks and most importantly how to correctly diagnose the bus when something goes wrong.
We have assigned three of our technicians Tony with 33 years of Volvo experience and VISTA winner, Chris with 25 years with Volvo and Matt with 13 years with Volvo, to answer all your questions. So feel free and ask.
Thanks to Matthewsvolvosite for making this possible.

Hi just logged on to XeModex's new website and may I say what an improvement and very informative.

My question is regarding the diagnostic tool that is shown which looks like an ELM327 type of tool but has advanced diagnostic capability and can query ETM programs to report the program numbers. I have already downloaded the App from Playstore.

Is this tool for sale and if so what is it's cost? This would be a useful addition to my tool set and would alleviate the need to crank Vida up on every occasion.

The tool you are refereeing to is called CANbusKEY. At this time we are renting these out for customers, so they can read ETM software numbers. This interface will eventually support all Volvo modules and become a iOS and Android based diagnostic tool. The idea is for us to develop simple and quick Volvo-specific tester that would perform advanced diagnostic functions. I would would wait a few months until we add several more modules. Scheduled for April is addition of ECM, DIM, BCM and DEM support.
BTW. Are you aware of our dBOb60 the Digital Brake-Out Box for Volvo? http://xemodex.com/us/digital-breakout- ... y-xemodex/

Thank you for sharing. Your website is responsive - works well on iPhone-6 and iPad Pro too, BUT:
  • 1 - The text is hard to read. I adjusted the screen contrast to help with the legibility of text. It appears grey NOT black. Black is better.
2 - The shopping cart portlet covers and hides a good part of viewport, therefore annoyance on iPhone.
I am in for the CANbusKEY over iPhone with Volvo modules.
